Abstract
Upgrading of installed optical networks into higher bit rates is an important area for research in optical communication due to the ever increasing demand for optical bandwidth. One way of realizing such high capacity networks is by using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technique, another interesting way is to undertake a single-channel ultrahigh speed optical time-division-multiplexed (OTDM) transmission by using a single wavelength pulse train.
