Abstract

Optically amplified long-haul terrestrial and ultralong submarine lightwave systems are evolving towards high channel bit rates and wave length-division multiplexing (WDM) to achieve higher capacities. Accumulated fiber dispersion and nonlinearities, however, degrade system performance.1
