Abstract

Low-loss optical fiber is essential for long-distance transmission systems. Among the various kinds of multicomponent glass, sodium aluminosilicate glass (Na2O-Al2O3-SiO2, NAS) is known to be a candidate for use in fabricating ultralow-loss fiber because of its low Rayleigh scattering and high stability.
