Abstract
All-optical wavelength converters (AOWC) are key devices for wavelength-routed optical networks based on wavelength-division multiplexing.1 Among different converters types proposed and studied, AOWCs, based on phase-modulation by an input signal in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), were previously demonstrated. These demonstrations used an integrated Mach-Zehnder interferometer with SOAs,2-3 or a Michelson interferometer (MI) with discrete SOAs and fiber couplers.4 Overcoming the instability due to environmental fluctuations led to the monolithic integration on InP of the MI with SOAs as phase-shifter.5
