Abstract

High-performance physical-contact angled polished connectors require the endface angle to be within ±0.2° of nominal.1 Endface angle also is important in the loss performance of angle mechanical splices.2 Therefore, an accurate measurement of the endface angle is of significant importance in characterizing the loss performance of such joints, which are used in many applications that require low-reflectance joints.
