Abstract

Reconfigurable FDM networks are attractive since their transparency suggests a new optical network layer on which many services can be integrated dynamically [1], [2], Such networks require transparent frequency-selective hubs that provide both multicast and cross-connect functions. The demonstration reported showed only the latter function with 2×2 cross-connect switches for 4 WDM channels spaced by 4 nm [3].
