Abstract

With the increasing bandwidth demands for future communication systems, cost-effectiveness becomes an ever more important consideration in both device and system technologies. Systems using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) have been demonstrated to lead to a significant increase in transmission bandwidths and novel all-optical self-routing schemes1. If low cost WDM devices can be realized, then WDM systems can be more widely implemented for local area networks and fiber-to-the-curb applications. Towards this goal, we present a widely tunable and potentially low cost detector.
