French terrestrial network: evolution in terms of architecture and capacity

Abstract

The architecture planned for the French optical transmission network and the organization in regional networks are presented. Parameters such as distance, network management, and economical aspects will generate debate on transmission techniques (TDM, WDM) and the use of optical amplification.
