Abstract

Optical transparency will revolutionize telecommunications through the evolution of new forms of system, network, and service provision. Improved reliability, lower up front and operating costs, and reduced staff requirements are benefits of this revolution. Operational costs are the key to market leadership; simpliying network managementas well as a massive reduction in software dependence will help lower costs.
