Abstract
Permanent photoinduced index change in Ge-doped optical fibers has been used for a few years for writing Bragg gratings by using either UV light1 or blue–green light.2 The internal writing of Bragg gratings by using the two-photon absorption of light around 500 nm has been done only with the technique introduced by Hill et al.2 We present a new technique that uses the interference of two counterpropagating short pulses of green light to write a confined fiber grating.
