Abstract

Several candidate architectures for passive dense wavelength- division multiplexed (D-WDM) networks have been proposed,1–3 but to date a comprehensive study of system reliability, optical diversity path protection and equipment protection (ODP/EP) schemes for these network architectures has not yet been published.
