Abstract

Optical fiber amplifiers are indispensable for advanced optical fiber communication; we are now witnessing the rapid development of these devices, which is pushing out the frontiers of optical transmission. As pumping sources for Er-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), 980-nm and 1480-nm lasers are considered most promising.
