Abstract

This paper reports the production of efficient in-fiber diffraction gratings by a controllable cladding-removal technique. The gratings are etched into the fiber by using a holographically generated photoresist mask on the D-type fiber. The controllable cladding removal allows for repeatable tap efficiencies greater than 30%.
