Abstract

An important component in ultra-high bit-rate system is the time-domain demultiplexer (DEMUX). Recently, an all optical DEMUX has been demonstrated at 2 GHz that uses the Kerr effect in a highly birefringent fiber[1]. In that system, a strong pump (34 W) laser beam was used to change the polarization and transmission of a probe beam.
