Abstract
Both the magnitude of the ionizing radiation-induced loss near 850 nm during steady state 60Co irradiation and the rate of recovery after the cessation of radiation may be influenced by the 850-nm optical power level being transmitted, a photoenhanced recovery called the photobleaching effect.1 The effect is especially intense in fibers with pure silica cores and in those at lower temperatures.2
