Dense WDM techniques

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Dense WDM is a technology for combining optical signals of different narrowly spaced wavelengths within optical fiber, with applications ranging from networks for local distribution of broadband signals to local area networks and high capacity switching systems. In this tutorial, we focus on the techniques for dense WDM, including the various means for combining and separating multiwavelength signals and the architectures which these techniques suggest.
