Abstract

The most important characteristics required for a laser diode used in multichannel analog transmission for CATV systems are extremely low intensity noise and low harmonic distortions. Since distributed feedback laser diodes (DFB LDs) oscillate stably over a wide range of temperature and under high speed modulation, they have low intensity noise compared with Fabry-Perot type laser diodes (F.P. LDs).
