Abstract

Implementations of the popular PIN/FET transimpedance amplifier1 exhibit performance directly dependent on transconductance of the field effect transistor and the input capacitance due to the detector. These dependencies cause the amplifier bandwidth to vary from device to device and with time or temperature. This paper presents design details and experimental results of a circuit configuration having a performance that is insensitive to transconductance variations and is less sensitive to detector capacitance than previous implementations.
