Abstract

Interferometric techniques for measuring dispersion in optical fibers are currently being investigated as these techniques require only short lengths of fiber. In the approach as described by Shang,1 the fiber group delay is balanced by the reference path group delay. Incorporation of single-sideband optical path length difference measurements into the above system facilitates measurement of first-order as well as second-order dispersion.
