Who needs the bandwidth?

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Requirements for bandwidth vary greatly with uses of communications. Some uses involve significant amounts of bandwidth only in the trunks, and other uses require them down to the outermost nodes of the network. Teleconferencing and videophone, if they are in demand, create large requirements. Video programming and browsing also may create substantial requirements. I will not analyze the technical means of providing each of these—a topic which those at the meeting are more qualified to deal with than I—but I shall address the human needs which some of these represent and In particular what people want out of browsing
