Minitutorial: Fiber Sensors

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

This tutorial will develop the background necessary to understand the fundamentals of single-mode fiber interferometric sensors. Emphasis will be placed on the optical-sensor field interaction, sensitivity, optical components, and interfering noise effects. Mach-Zehnder and Sagnac interferometers for acoustic, magnetic, and rotation sensing will be covered.
