Abstract

This paper discusses the verification of long-term reliability of the FRP-covered optical fiber in practical use. This FRP optical fiber has proved to have excellent thermal resistance and mechanical properties in comparison with conventional optical fibers and is expected to be used in various environmental conditions.1,2 However, long-term reliability is essential for practical use, in addition to the assurance provided by various tests of the basic physical properties and product strength.
