Abstract

Efficient and fast electrooptical directional couplers (EDC) have been demonstrated.1-3 When investigating the large potential bandwidth of these components for single-mode systems, one is faced with the problem that direct detection by a photodiode1 is limited in speed and in sensitivity. Also, the swept frequency method2 is suitable only for small driving signals, and the optical sampling technique3 needs a high-performance setup to avoid deconvolution.
