Abstract
Various optical connecting devices, such as connectors and semiconductor-device modules, have been developed for optical transmission systems installed in the Tokyo metropolitan area by NTT.1 The connector and a laser module used as interconnecting devices between a fiber and a laser diode for single-mode fiber transmission systems are described. Fluctuations of the injection-laser output intensity and spectrum caused by reflected light from a fiber end face have been investigated theoretically and experimentally.
