Abstract

This paper describes a new type of cable having spacers in which optical fibers are accommodated. The purposes of using spacers are to preserve transmission characteristics and to protect optical fibers. Several cables of those types are manufactured. The investigation of the cables showed that these have excellent transmission characteristics and mechanical properties.
