Abstract
Miniaturized fiber devices can be realized by inducing artificial defects in standard optical fiber or microfibers. The defects can be not only a single hole but also 1D/2D hole arrays. In this work, we demonstrate several novel fiber devices with artificial defects, including surface corrugated Fabry–Perot interferometers, Bragg gratings and transflective nano-wire Grid polarizers. More functional devices can be obtained by inducing other artificial microstructures into a fiber.
