Frequency Comb Assisted Photonic Digital-to-Analog Conversion Based on Frequency Chirp in a QD-SOA

Abstract

We present a frequency comb assisted photonic digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) based on frequency chirp using a quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier and following blue- shift filtering. We experimentally demonstrate 20-Gb/s binary-to-quaternary conversion for photonic DACs.
