Local oscillator-less QPSK signal detection using direct detection and fractional Fourier transform

Abstract

We numerically demonstrate the QPSK signal detection using fractional Fourier transform without a local oscillator and balanced-detectors. Non-rotationally symmetric modulation patterns can be distinguished and the BER becomes less than 10-6, below the FEC limit.
