Abstract

SVOD (Stacked Volumetric Optical Discs) makes it possible to realize a 0.94-5TB capacity cartridge using 100 ultra thin discs with less than 0.1mm thickness and a commercialized drive. This paper presents the mechanism of aerodynamic stabilizer and several types of thin discs. The combination of a Blu-ray drive and double-sided dual-layer discs, SVOD can provide a cartridge capacity of 10TB
