Readout Measurement with High Throughput GaP Probe Array for Two-dimensional Optical Data Storage Head

Abstract

A near-field optics, which is one of prosperous technologies, for higher density recording is expected for the future optical data storage. In order to realize the two-dimensional optical memory system1), the readout signal improvement is important factor. Some researchers have reported readout signal measurement for probe heads2-4). Yatsui et. al reported the readout signal from a Si probe. The signal to noise radio (SNR) in their experiments had been evaluated as 10dB. However, to realize the optical storage system using the near field optics, better improvement is required. It is important to use a higher optical throughput head for the probe. In this presentation, we report the readout signal measurement using the GaP probe with a higher throughput characteristics like as about 3% at 200nm aperture.
