Abstract
Today, write-once type optical disks such as CD-R and DVD-R are the best choice for data archiving applications in terms of interchangeability and reliability. For the next generation system using blue laser diode, phase-change media is one of the most promising candidates to achieve higher data rate write/read. In this paper we report a 200Mbps write/read test results using a phase-change write-once disk and partial-response maximum-likelihood (PRML) technique. Good bit error rate of under 10-6 and proper power margin of ±16% is obtained.
