Parallel-processing demonstrator with plug-on-top free-space interconnect optics

Abstract

We report on the design, packaging and characterization of a parallel-processing demonstrator that uses compact "plug-on-top" optics modules for the MCM-to-MCM interconnects. The setup will demonstrate a radix-2-butterfly calculation distributed among six optically interconnected microprocessors.
