Abstract
Development of free-space optical interconnections is attracting intense research effort due to the large available bandwidth, relatively low clock skews and immunity to optical interference. Implementing photonic circuits using planar optics[l] seems to be a promising solution for inter-chip interconnections, since the optical elements are precisely fabricated and placed on a rigid optical substrate.
