Optical Pulse Compression in Single-Mode Fibers induced by Cross-Phase Modulation in Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

Abstract

Simulations have shown that a SOA-based pump-probe scheme and an optical fiber in cascade can compress 1ps FWHM Gaussian unchirped pulse sequence up to 327fs FWHM in the anomalous dispersion regime, without any pattern dependence.
