Origin of multi-hole structure in gain spectrum of erbium-doped fiber amplifier

Abstract

Multi-hole structure with eleven gain spectral holes has been observed in erbium-doped fiber for the first time. This paper reports the relationship between the multi-hole spectrum and the Stark energy structure of the Er3+ ion.
