Influence of gain distribution on the noise properties in forward and backward Raman amplifiers

Abstract

Signal and noise evolutions in gain-distributed Raman amplifiers are described by using a classical approach taking into account the pump depletion. Characteristics of single and a chain of forward and backward amplifiers are estimated.
