Pump intensity noise and ASE spectrum of Raman amplification in non-zero dispersion-shifted fibers

Abstract

We observe growth of narrow spectral features in the ASE spectrum of a Raman amplifier under certain dispersion conditions. Relative intensity noise of the counterpropagating pump is found to cause this when it exceeds −125 dB/Hz.
