Fiber Raman amplifications with dispersion compensating fibers

Abstract

We present dopantanalysis and characterization of dispersion compensating fibers in fiber Raman amplifications. ASE and Rayleigh scattering dominate the noise generation in small-signal amplifications, while stimulated Brillouin scattering mainly limits the high-signal amplifications.
