Abstract

An erbium doped fiber amplifier is presented which exhibits the lowest intrinsic gain ripple yet at a 32nm bandwidth. By hybridizing a novel multicomponent silicate fiber with standard aluminosilicate fiber we reduce the gain ripple from 21% to 10% at 32nm.
