Abstract

Increasing the bandwidths of optical amplifiers is the most effective way of increasing the number of WDM channels and transmission capacity in optical network systems. Severa1 types of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) have been constructed to operate as wideband amplifiers in the 1.5-μm telecommunication window.
