Abstract

We study the narrow-band tunable Stokes radiation of frequency Vs=2V2V1 generated by four-photon mixing in single-mode silica fibers under biharmonic tunable pulsed laser pumping with V1 and V2 (<V1) frequencies. The Stokes radiation is generated at a high conversion efficiency up to 40% at the tuning of pumping frequency difference V1V2<1200cm1 which corresponds to a region of vibronic resonances of fused silica, while its power drops by several orders at the tuning of 1200cm1<V1V2<3000cm1. It is suggested that the high efficient Stokes radiation is due to Raman amplification.
