Abstract

For improvement of the gain flatness of the WDM sysytems, the erbium fiber amplifier using 980nm pump laser module has been developed heartily, and it is rising that the necessity of the higher power 980nmn laser module and bi-directional pumping for practical use. We have already put 1480nm Pump Laser Module into practical use, and superior performances have benn obtained [1]. Now, applying this technology, we have developed 980nm Pump Laser Module. Recently, by optimizing wave guide of laser, we have achieved a record high kink-free fiber coupled power exceeding 220mW.
