Statistical Analysis of Free-Space-to-Fiber Coupling Under Atmospheric Turbulence

Abstract

Simulating the propagation of an optical field through a turbulent atmosphere and the coupling to an optical fiber reveals that a FMF or an MMF instead of an SMF can significantly increase the reliability of coherent FSO links.
