Spatial Coded Modulation Method with Multi-core Fiber for Efficient Transmission

Abstract

We describe families of modulation formats for spatial super-channels which exploit the increased dimensionality and uniformity of parallel cores in multi-core fibers. Measurements reveal advantages in power and spectral efficiency over equivalent single-core formats.
