Spatiotemporal Self-Localization of Pulse-Train Beams: Toward 3D Solitons in Homogeneous Media

Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally three-dimensional self-localization of spatially-bright temporally-dark pulse-train beams in homogeneous media. The pulses are collectively trapped spatially by slow photorefractive self-focusing while each pulse is individually self-localized longitudinally by the fast Kerr nonlinearity.
