Abstract

We report a new class of instabilities of cavity solitons, which can exist due to periodic boundary conditions in microring and fiber cavities. These instabilities are associated with exponential growth of dispersive waves and thereby have applications for frequency conversion and design of novel soliton based optical parametric oscillators.
