Dynamics of Akhmediev breathers in a dispersion-varying optical fiber

Abstract

We investigate numerically and experimentally the dynamics of Akhmediev Breathers in an optical fiber with a longitudinally step dispersion profile. We experimentally show that they can be sustained near their point of maximal compression.
