Abstract

Arsenic tri-Sulfide Chalcogenide strip waveguides on a sapphire substrate were fabricated and characterized. The substrate material enables efficient transmission of 3–5µm wavelengths through the waveguide, and numerical simulations reveal benefits over silica and silicon substrates.
