Operating Regimes and Performance Optimization in Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

Abstract

We develop an averaging method that explicitly formulates the mode-locking dynamics in terms of the cavity waveplate and polarizer settings, thus characterizing the stability and operating regimes of a physically realizable laser cavity.
