Lumped vs. Averaged Models for Fiber Lasers

Abstract

From a lumped laser model we derive an averaged one which finally results in the cubic-quintic Ginzburg-Landau equation (CQGLE). Numerical comparison shows that lumped and averaged models agree well but results from CQGLE significantly deviate.
